Spousal RRSP attribution check
A spousal RRSP lets the higher earner contribute and get the deduction, with the money taxed later in the lower earner's hands. But if money is withdrawn soon after a contribution, it's taxed to the contributor instead.
Assumptions
- Attribution applies to the lesser of the withdrawal and spousal contributions made in the withdrawal year or the 2 previous calendar years.
- Exceptions (separation, death, emigration, HBP/LLP withdrawals, RRIF minimum amounts) are not modelled.
